Friday 24th October

This week in English we have been learning when to use capital letters.
·         At the start of sentences
·         For the word I
·         For names of people, places, days and months.

In ChIL we wrote our own fact-file about ourselves and made lists of our friends and favourite places making sure we had used capital letters correctly.  We also practised writing lower case and capital letters.

In  ChIL on Friday we were detectives looking for full stops,  !  and ? in books. As you read with your child at home you may like to do the same.
We used the following game http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/using_punctuation/play/

In maths this week we have been learning about collecting information using a tally chart.  We then used this information to make a pictogram. The next day we had a ChIL and made our own pictograms using a program called Starting Graph and collected our own information using tally charts and tables.

On Tuesday afternoon the children created a 3D bonfire which will be displayed in the window of Harpenden Building Society, so do look out for it.

This week we celebrated ‘Diwali’.  We watched a short video about preparing for Diwali.  Follow the link below to watch it.

We also made our own Rangoli patterns in the classroom with felt tip pens and outdoors with chalks.

On Thursday we enjoyed a special tennis workshop. See our photos to see how much fun we had.

Have a wonderful half term.
