Thank you all so much for the lovely cards, flowers and gifts you so kindly gave us.  We are overwhelmed  by your generosity.We have thoroughly enjoyed being part of your children’s learning journey and are looking forward helping your children have fun and make great progress 2019. We hope you have found all the Christmas cards and decorations your children have brought home from school this week. We hope they look good in your home and they become special Christmas treasures!  What a fun filled week we have had watching the children of Year Two and Reception performing their Christmas plays, being part of Mrs Pattrick's leaving assembly and enjoying the treat of the pantomime coming to school. Maybe the most exciting event of the week was eating school packed lunch in our classrooms today!  Thank you to everyone who brought items in for the reverse advent calendar we know this will be very much appreciated by the recipients. Feed were delighted when our donations arrived and we still have more to take!  Next term our topic is ‘Travel and Transport’. We would like the children to find out five facts about a mode of transport that interests them. They will be presenting their information to the rest of the class in the first week back after Christmas so they need to be able to talk with confidence about what they have found out.  This week in maths we have been revisiting our learning about 3D and 2D shapes. Can you child name all the shapes below. You may like to put some 2D or 3D shapes in a bag and get them to describe the shape they are holding.  Can they describe the shape using the words to describe the properties of the shape including faces, edges and vertices/corners, curved or straight, flat or not? It is important the children understand that a rectangle is still a rectangle whatever the size, colour or orientation. Or sort a range of 3D shapes by their shape or properties. Find 4 shapes and play which shape is the odd one out. Can your child give you reasons for their choice? Can you see 27 triangles in this Christmas tree?  Or draw around a 3D shape from everyday life this could include for example cereal boxes(cuboids) and tin cans (cylinders)

As you are out and about this Christmas you may like to look for 2D and 3D shapes in the environment.

What an amazing Christmas performance! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We though we would take some photos of our amazing cast! 

Today we have had lots of fun wearing our Christmas jumpers, making party hats and enjoying our Christmas lunch. 

Many thanks to Mrs Fox and the team for their efforts - lunch was delicious! 

This week in maths we have been continuing our learning about place value.

We began the week by using sticks and bricks to make numbers between 11 and 20.

The following day we used our knowledge of one more and one less.

Here are some problems you may like to use at home using this knowledge. You could make up similar ones with different numbers or for 1 less.

On Friday we compared numbers using the words most/least,  more/less, greatest and smallest.  You make like to compare numbers at home using these words.

Also during the week we have ordered a selection of numbers from smallest to greatest and vice versa. You may like to do this at home.
