We have had lots of fun
this week during our French Cultural Week.
We began the week with
an assembly learning about the Tour de France.
We went around the different
classes doing a range of French themed activities.
In Robins we learnt some
French songs and French words with Mrs Fitzsimons.
In Ducks we created our
own animal collages in the style of the French artist Matisse.
In Owls we learnt about
French food and created our own French menus.
In Eagles we used our
observational skills to draw the famous Mona Lisa.
In Woodpeckers we looked at the sculpture ‘The Thinker’ by the French sculptor Rodin and drew our own
pictures of what we thought he was thinking.
In Kingfishers we used
our observational skills to draw famous French landmarks including the Eiffel
Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
During the week we made
our own fact files about France. Ask
your child what French facts they learnt.
On Friday we had great
fun taking part in our own Tour de Crabtree and ended the week of celebrations
with our own French picnic.
After our busy week, today we have enjoyed our French picnic!
We have had a lovely week, and cannot believe next week is the last week of Year One! Happy Weekend!
